plzenskajehlarenska.cz
Website of the video channel @plzenskajehlarenska. We are building a platform for it where viewers upload their footage: uploads go straight to object storage, bypassing the application server.
Plzenskajehlarenska.cz is the website we built for the YouTube channel Plzeňská Jehlárenská. It is a Czech channel with dashcam compilations and has been running since 2015. Besides the author's own footage it publishes fan specials made from situations that viewers filmed and sent in. According to the channel's website such a clip can easily be several gigabytes, and viewers mostly send it from a phone, often with a weak signal. The main feature of the website is therefore an upload page, and alongside it we built the Jehla Dashcam app for Android and iOS.
Why a shared drive and a Facebook message are not enough
A link to a shared drive or a video sent in a message carries nothing else: at what time in the clip the situation happens, who sent the footage and where to let them know whether it was used. The author then watches whole clips and loses track of what he has already seen. The "Spolupráce" (collaboration) page therefore advises against sending footage via Facebook messages or Google Drive. The upload page collects the video and these details together, and every clip gets its own number.
What the website gives viewers and the channel author
Uploads up to 16 GB, from a phone too
The "Jak mi poslat video" (how to send me a video) page starts with a file field where a video can be chosen with a button or dropped in. It accepts mp4, mov, avi, mkv, ts, mts, m2ts, m4v and webm files up to 16 GB. Several parts of one drive can be sent packed in a ZIP or RAR. Sending takes three steps: choose the video, describe what is on it, and send.

A dropped signal does not stop the upload
If the connection drops during an upload, the upload resumes where it stopped once the connection is back. Anyone who closes the browser is offered to continue the next time they open the page. The form can be filled in while the video uploads, so the viewer does not sit watching a progress bar. They just need to keep the page open until the upload finishes.
The time of the situation saves the author from watching the whole clip
The form asks at what time in the clip the situation happened. When a viewer writes, say, 2:30, the author jumps straight there. According to the privacy policy, the service also reads the recording time, route and camera model from the file, so it is clear when and where it happened.
A message when the footage makes it into a video
The sender's email serves one purpose only: when the footage appears in a video, they get a message with a link. Several clips are sent one after another and each has its own number, so the sender can keep track of them.
The Jehla Dashcam app
The website is paired with an app for Android and iOS. Uploads in the app continue in the background, and the viewer sees sent clips in the "Moje záběry" (my clips) overview. According to the privacy policy it is the same service as the website; the app additionally keeps the viewer signed in to their clips and accesses the gallery or camera only at the moment the viewer uses them to pick a clip. On Google Play it is published by the NKS Hub developer account.
A home page with the latest videos and the shop
The home page shows the four latest YouTube videos with their release dates, three items of the channel's official merchandise with prices and a link to the JehlaShop store, and answers to the questions the author gets most often. The header has a dark mode switch, the footer links to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, the shop and Herohero. The "Poslat záběr" (send footage) button is at the top and at the end of every page.

How it is built
The website runs on the Nette 3 PHP framework with styles in Tailwind CSS 4, built by Vite. Uploaded videos go straight to object storage and do not pass through the application server, so it does not have to move multi-gigabyte files. Pages carry structured data for search engines: a list of videos and frequently asked questions.
What happens to senders' data
Whoever sends footage entrusts the channel with an email address, the video and everything visible in it. The privacy policy therefore describes what the system actually does:
- Footage that is not used is deleted after 90 days. The system runs the deletion every night on its own; the sender does not have to request anything.
- The server and the storage are in the European Union, in Finland. Emails go out through a Czech provider.
- The IP address is used to protect uploads from flooding.
- Traffic is measured without cookies on our own server and does not track individuals.
- On erasure, the file in storage, the thumbnails, the route, the email and the IP address are removed. A video already published on YouTube stays published, and the policy says so up front.
Who it is for
- A driver with a dashcam who has a situation on the memory card and wants to send it from a phone without looking for a computer.
- The channel author, who builds regular compilations from the incoming footage and needs to know where in the clip the situation is.
- Other creators who collect videos from their community: the same approach with large files, resuming after an outage and automatic deletion works elsewhere too.
Project status
The website and the app are live. Work on the upload platform continues. The website is in Czech only.
