Preview of Chatujme.cz

Chatujme.cz is a Czech chat portal that has been running since 2011. Anyone who wants to spend an evening chatting in Czech with people they do not know from work or family has two usual options: a large social network, where a conversation gets lost among posts and ads, or a narrowly focused forum, where replies take days. Chatujme.cz sits between the two and combines live chat in topic rooms, public discussions, private messages and profiles under one account. According to its own FAQ it is a portal for adults who speak Czech or Slovak, and most of its users are between 30 and 60.

Three ways to talk, one account

A chat room is group conversation in real time. Messages run live and disappear once you leave the room. A discussion is a public forum for longer debate: threads stay, can be searched and returned to. The message box ("vzkazník") is a private exchange of messages between two people, similar to email. One registration covers all three, and a person you meet in a room has their profile, message box and discussion posts in the same place.

Registration, rooms, discussions, the message box and profiles are free. Only extras cost money, such as additional emoticons, profile visit statistics, a custom profile background or turning off ads. Running costs are covered by advertising, premium features and user donations.

Rooms are grouped into categories, each showing the number of rooms and the people currently in them.

What users find there

  • Rooms in categories by topic and by town. Temporary rooms are sorted by the number of people, and the chat page shows the five busiest rooms of the week and an activity chart for the last seven days.
  • Chat with commands: /me to describe an action, /v to send a private message straight from the room, a quiz for the whole room, dice and polls. An @nick mention is highlighted. The Halo feature rings the room's subscribers, and the notification reaches them even outside the website.
  • Discussions with a post tree, full-text search and saving of unfinished posts. Since July 2026, fully anonymous discussion topics have been in beta.
  • Messages with images pasted from the clipboard with Ctrl+V, voice messages recorded right in the browser, GIFs and emoticons. A YouTube link plays directly in the chat window.
  • Profiles with a photo gallery, a photo editor with cropping and filters, profile verification and a list of who visited the profile. Users can search by age, gender or region.
  • Chat Rádio with its own player in light and dark mode.

How it works

The website is written in PHP on the Nette framework and works on a phone, tablet or computer without installing anything. The mobile app for Android and iOS is built with Flutter and adds push notifications for new messages to the website's features. According to its App Store description it speaks five languages: Czech, English, German, Polish and Slovak. The mobile version of the chat has labels for screen readers.

The portal is developed in public. The "Co je nového" (what's new) page lists every change with a version number and date; between February and July 2026 alone it added a new chat design, reworked settings with eight sections, a new photo gallery, full-text search in discussions, profile verification and two-step sign-in. The version number is also shown in the website footer.

Who uses it

  • People who want to chat in a group in the evening or meet someone new. Rooms for dating have their own category.
  • People who want to keep a debate about politics, faith, music or gardening going for a long time and be able to find it later. The discussion index has 21 main categories.
  • Room operators from among the users who moderate their own room: they have entry limits and their own blacklist.
  • People from one town or region who meet in local rooms.

The home page shows live statistics. On 31 October 2026 they showed 33,277 registered accounts, 1,400 active in the last seven days, 2,070 in the last thirty days and around 140 signed in at the same time. It is a smaller community, not a mass network.

Security and moderation

The connection is encrypted. Users can sign in with a nickname and password, a passkey, a confirmation in the mobile app, or through Facebook, Google, Seznam (a Czech web portal) and mojeID (a Czech identity service). Since July 2026 two-step sign-in can be turned on. Any user can be reported to an administrator or blocked, after which they can no longer write or get in touch in any other way. Settings control who may write to you. An abusive profile can be reported too, and a message can be reported as spam. Spam is also kept in check by limits and automatic bans, rooms are moderated by experienced users, and repeated offences end in a ban.

Project status

The website has been running since 2011 and on 31 October 2026 its footer showed version 1.6094. The iOS app has been in the App Store since August 2026 and is still at version 0.8.33; the Android app is on Google Play. The classic version of the chat remains available, but only the new chat gets new features. Anonymous discussion topics and images in the message box are still in beta.
